Often some problems appear with the gadgets in Windows Seven. We're glad to offer you the solutions some of them.

Issue #1
The gadgets do not work when UAC is off.
This problem appeared in beta-versions of Windows 7. It's fixed now.

Issue #2
Gadgets are displayed over another windows.
Do a right click on gadget and deselect "always on top".

Issue #3
sidebar.exe have not loaded and gadgets don't work.
Remove gadgets from:
X:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets
X:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Shared Gadgets
X:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets
where X is a letter of system drive(on which Windows is installed).

Issue #4
Gadgets and services are displayed incorrectly or not displayed.
Launch the Command Prompt (cmd.exe) as Admin and run one by one the following:
regsvr32 atl.dll
regsvr32 corpol.dll
regsvr32 dispex.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 scrrun.dll
regsvr32 scrobj.dll
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
regsvr32 wshext.dll
regsvr32 wshom.ocx
regsvr32 msxml3.dll
regsvr32 ole32.dll
regsvr32 oleaut32.dll

Remove the excess zone with pseudo "number" in the tree, the approximate form:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\

Issue #5
Message: Desktop gadgets are managed by your system administrator.
Open a Notepad then copy-paste the following text:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00



Save it as Gadget_fix.reg. Run this File and reboot your Windows computer.

Issue #6
The native weather gadget doesn't work. A message "Failed to connect to a windows service" appears.
All gadgets that require an Internet connection don't work. Internet on your PC works correctly.
Solution 1:
1. Uncheck "Work offline" in IE.
2. Clear the IE cache, remove the weather gadget cache file. Еру path is:
X:\ Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Cache
where X is a letter of system drive(on which Windows is installed).

Solution 2:
Add to your hosts file the following strings:

The path to the hosts file is X:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\
where X is a letter of system drive(on which Windows is installed).
To open the file do right click on it and choose "Open with" on the context menu. In the appeared window select "Notepad"

Solution 3:
Update ACHI driver. Do not remove but update! The removing won't fix you problem. This driver also can cause troubles with "Windows Update".

Issue #7
There isn't "Gadgets" in your Desktop context menu.
Turn on the gadgets platform:
"Start" --> "Control Panel" --> "Programs an Features" -->"Turn Windows Features on or off" --> "Windows Gadget Platform"

Issue #8
After reboot one or some gadgets do not appear, or no one appears. The next time all might be OK. The disappeared gadgets commonly can come back after the some reboots loosing their location.
There are two things that can cause the bug of gadgets:
1. Update the "psiservise" in accordance with the recommendations the Support Center that you received in their link. It's something from "Corel Corporation"
2. Remove "Direct Console 1.5" program. You might get this along with Asus notebook. Earlier versions of which can cause the gadgets bugs but newest versions might be non compatible with hardware.

Issue #9
Unable to install gadgets. Native gadgets work without errors.
Launch "Command Prompt" as an Admin and run:
sfc /scannow

Issue #10
A message "Desktop Gadgets has stopped working" appears when the weather gadget is trying to load.
Remove a cache and and a file containing the sidebar settings. It will make the sidebar and gadgets as though they just have been installed.
The path:
X:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar
where X is a letter of system drive(on which Windows is installed).
